Available for e-Detailers, their briefs, and portfolio e-Detailers

The menu component provides centralized navigation and quick access to key e-Detailer functions. Configured in the Master template mode, it allows you to customize chapter navigation, menu buttons, icons, and visibility settings to match your content and branding needs. ​

Typically, the menu component is added to the content item by default and contains the following buttons: ​

  • Home​

  • Chapter navigation ​

  • Sitemap ​

  • References ​

  • Send email​

  • Product information

If the menu component isn't available in your content item template or on the Components tab, contact your administrator.

To get to the menu component properties:

  1. Switch on the Master template toggle.

  2. On the Tree tab, select the menu component.

  3. Go to the Properties tab and start the menu component customization.

    Here, you can manage the menu component and its elements in the following way:

ELEMENT TYPE

Assign an element type to the menu component from the options available in the dropdown list.

COMPONENT NAME

Rename the component if needed. Your changes appear on the Tree tab on the fly.

POSITIONING

Select the menu component position on the content item layout: Horizontal – Bottom, Horizontal – Top, Vertical – Left, or Vertical – Right.

BUTTON PADDINGS

Set paddings between the menu component visible buttons in pixels.

HOME BUTTON ICON

Change the default button icon by selecting the required icon in the Assets popup. You can edit the icon image, its text if needed, and save the added image to your Library.
To hide the home button on the menu component, clear the Show "Opening slide" button checkbox.

ACTIVE CHAPTER / INACTIVE CHAPTER

TEXT STYLE—enter or upload text shown on active/inactive chapter buttons. Must contain 5–1500 characters.
FILL—set the background color of the active/inactive chapter button with the color picker. You can choose the required opacity value from the dropdown list or click the opacity button to set it to 0%. By default, the opacity is set to 100%.
SIDE WITH BORDER—specify the side of the button where the border is applied: All, Left, Right, Top, Bottom, Left-Right, Top-Bottom, or Top-Left.
BORDER STYLE—define the border line style: Dotted, Dashed, Solid, Double, Groove, Ridge, Inset, Outset, or None.
BORDER WIDTH—set the border thickness in pixels.
BORDER COLOR—define the color of the active/inactive chapter border with the color picker. You can choose the required opacity value from the dropdown list or click the opacity button to set it to 0%. By default, the opacity is set to 100%.

ACTIVE ARROWS / INACTIVE ARROWS

COLOR—set the color of the active/inactive chapter navigation arrow with the color picker. You can choose the required opacity value from the dropdown list or click the opacity button to set it to 0%. By default, the opacity is set to 100%.

SITEMAP BUTTON ICON

Change the default button icon by selecting the required icon image in the Assets popup. You can edit the icon image if needed, and save the added image to your Library.
To hide the sitemap button on the menu component, clear the Show Sitemap button checkbox.

REFERENCES BUTTON ICON

Change the default button icon by selecting the required icon image in the Assets popup. You can edit the icon image, its text if needed, and save the added image to your Library.
To hide the References button from the e-Detailer menu, clear the Show References button checkbox. ​

SEND EMAIL BUTTON

Change the default button icon by selecting the required icon image in the Assets popup. You can edit the icon image, its text if needed, and save the added image to your Library.
To hide the Send email button from the e-Detailer menu, clear the Show Send email button checkbox.

PI BUTTON ICON

Browse for a new icon for the PI (Product Information) button and upload a PDF file to support information stated in your e-Detailer. You can edit the icon image and its text if needed.
To hide the PI button from the e-Detailer menu, clear the Show PI button checkbox. ​

LOGO

Browse for a new image in the Assets popup, where you can choose and add the required logo image from Library, Veeva Vault PromoMats, NaviGate, or upload the file from your PC to your e-Detailer menu. You can edit the logo image, itstext if needed, and save the added image to your Library.

Hidden chapters

Select the required chapters from the Hidden chapters dropdown list to hide them in the menu component.

Portfolio e-Detailers

In portfolio e-Detailers, a pre-designed navigation component allows seamless switching between nested e-Detailers within a portfolio. In the Master template mode, you can customize the component on the Properties tab and select nested e-Detailers to switch to during the portfolio presentation.

Apart from the menu component, certain popups can be selected on the Tree tab and customized individually:

Sitemap popup

The Sitemap popup helps you navigate the e-Detailer more efficiently by presenting all chapters in one place, making it easy to move between sections and understand the overall content structure.

​To get to the sitemap properties:

  1. Switch on the Master template toggle.

  2. On the Tree tab, select Sitemap.

  3. Go to the Properties tab and start the sitemap customization with the following actions available:

Rename the sitemap if needed. Your changes appear on the Tree tab on the fly.

TITLE

Change the sitemap popup title manually or use the BROWSE button to select and add the title from the Assets popup.

Show title

Select the Show title checkbox to show the sitemap popup title. Clear the checkbox to hide the title.

Divide by chapters

Clear the Divide by chapters checkbox to display all chapters in a single continuous list, without grouping.

Show chapter name

Clear the Show chapter name checkbox to hide all chapter names in the sitemap popup.

Show slide name

Select the Show slide name checkbox to display all slide names in the sitemap popup.

Show close button

Clear the Show close button checkbox to hide the close button in the sitemap popup.

CLOSE BUTTON ICON

Change the default button icon by selecting the required one in the Assets popup. You can edit the icon image, its text if needed, and save the added image to your Library.

ICON POSITION

Select the close button position in the sitemap popup: Right Top/Center/Bottom, Center Top/Center/Bottom, or Left Top/Center/Bottom.

Show on slide enter

Select the checkbox for the sitemap popup to appear when you open the slide with the sitemap popup.

Close on outside tap

Select the Close on outside tap checkbox to allow closing the sitemap popup by tapping anywhere outside it. Clear the checkbox to require using the close button on the sitemap popup to close it.

Show overlay

Select the Show overlay checkbox to gray out the slide area behind the sitemap popup. Clear the checkbox to keep the slide area behind the popup unchanged.

References popup

The References popup provides quick access to supporting materials associated with the e-Detailer. The popup displays reference information, ensuring that supplementary content is always available during navigation or discussion.

You can go straight to the References popup properties by selecting it on the Tree tab in the Master template mode.

On the Properties tab, you can configure the following:

COMPONENT NAME

Rename the References component. Your changes appear on the Tree tab immediately.

TYPE

• Select the Slide notes type to show the reference number relative to the references on a slide.
• Select the e-Detailer notes type to show the reference number relative to the list of all references in the e-Detailer.

DELIMITER

Set commas or brackets to separate the reference indicators.

RANGE DELIMITER

Choose the hyphen -, en dash ⁠–, or em dash to separate the consecutive numbers.

Merge consecutive numbers

Selected by default. This option displays the consecutive numbers with a range delimiter between the first and last consecutive values (for example, 1–3). Deselect the checkbox to display all consecutive numbers in order (for example, 1, 2, 3).

NUMBER FORMAT

Set numbers, letters, or asterisks as reference indicators on the slide.

VISIBILITY

Choose whether to display the REFERENCES button only on slides with references or on all slides.

Trigger email popup

With Trigger email popup, you can send an email while presenting the content. The popup displays the approved email linked to the e-Detailer or email fragments associated with individual slides. Each slide can have its own set of fragments, ensuring relevant content is shared based on the presented material. The component includes two parts: a button that opens the email interface and a popup that displays the fragments linked to the current slide.

To configure the popup, switch the Master template toggle on and select Trigger email popup on the Tree tab.

On the Properties tab, you can configure the following:

COMPONENT NAME

Rename the Trigger email popup component. Your changes appear on the Tree tab immediately. This helps identify the component within the e-Detailer structure.

EMAIL TEMPLATE

Specify the email template used for the entire e-Detailer. You can attach only one email to an e-Detailer. To attach an email, click BROWSE, sign in to Veeva Vault, and select an approved email.

VEEVA INSTANCE

Enter the Veeva Vault instance where email templates and fragments are stored. This path is used to locate the content to be sent. If this value is missing or incorrect, the email can't be sent.

BUTTON

Enter the trigger email button text or browse for the required one in the Assets popup and add it.

BUTTON BACKGROUND

Set the background color and opacity of the trigger email button.

CLOSE BUTTON ICON

Change the default close button icon by selecting the required one in the Assets popup. You can edit the icon image, its text if needed, and save the added image to your Library.

SELECTED ICON / NON SELECTED ICON

Change the default icon by selecting the required one in the Assets popup with the BROWSE button. You can edit the icon image, its text if needed, and save the added image to your Library.

EMAIL FRAGMENTS

Link email fragments to a specific slide. Each fragment must be selected from Veeva Vault using the BROWSE button. You can add several fragments to a single slide.

Each element of Trigger email popup—including the popup itself, its title, and the popup button text—can be configured independently on the Properties tab. For this, select the required element on the Tree tab.
