The Tree tab displays components added to the content item in a structured manner. On the Tree tab, you can navigate through various layers of content item elements, easily reach components, rearrange placeholders, blocks, components, and select them for further editing or management.

Contact your administrator to configure the usage of the Tree tab.

To open the Tree tab of the required content item, go to the elements panel.

On the Tree tab that opens, you can see all elements added to the layout ordered by their placement on the slide or content item layout as a tree.

e-Detailers, their briefs, multipage sites

To view the tree of another slide or page, switch to the Navigation tab and select a different slide.

Select a component on the Tree tab and go to the required tab on the customization panel for its further editing.

When editing inner texts of the button, card, carousel, coded, container, and tab group components, all applied changes immediately appear on the Tree tab.

Support of the inner text editing depends on the template.

On the Tree tab, you can also select multiple elements of the same type—blocks, placeholders, components, and inner elements of a compound component—for further management on the content item layout. To do this, hold the Shift keyboard key and click the required elements. To deselect, hold Shift and click the element again, or click an empty area to clear all selections.

You can rearrange and nest inner components within blocks, containers, placeholders, and popups. The nesting level is unlimited, and you can use a horizontal slider to view more than four levels of nesting.

Element limitations

  • Blocks can only be placed at the first nesting level.

  • Placeholders can't be nested within other placeholders but can be placed within a column of another placeholder or block.

  • When multiple elements are selected, you can only change the order and nesting of the first element in the selected set.

e-Detailers and their briefs

When moving the components on the Tree tab, their position on the slide doesn't change.

Grid-based structure

Available for e-Detailers, e-Detailer briefs, emails, and their briefs

The ModCon 2.0 approach to modular content creation introduces a grid-based structure for e-Detailers and emails. This layout system organizes content into a framework of blocks, grids, and grid areas, providing a consistent and flexible way to arrange content module elements such as text, images, and other assets. The grid ensures that assets are automatically aligned and formatted when reusing content modules from Veeva Vault PromoMats in e-Detailers and emails.

After pulling the content module to your content item, the following element structure appears on the Tree tab.

You can select any element on the Tree tab and edit it inline on the layout or browse and pull assets on the Properties tab.
