When editing the item component, you can add and customize different link types. Such links increase the component interactivity and overall item performance value.

To add a component link:

1. Select the component on the layout.

2. Go to the Properties tab on the customization panel.

e-Detailers, landing pages, and their briefs

You can add different link types to the same component on the Properties and Actions tabs. A prioritized is the link added on the Actions tab.

3. Click Link—the Edit link pop-up appears.

Here, you can set and configure the following link types:

Link type

Action

Configuration

URL

Opens the configured link in a new tab

Select the URL link type from the list. Choose the required protocol: HTTPS, HTTP, or FTP. The selected protocol is automatically inserted into the value field. Add the target web address and configure the UTM parameters, if required.

Email

Opens the outgoing message in the email client set as default on your device

Select the Email link type from the list. Enter the email address of the message recipient or the merge tag supported by the selected target system, email subject, and body.

Phone

Starts a phone call

Select the Phone link type from the list. Enter the target phone number. Make sure the app for phone calls is installed on your device.

Free input

Adds a merge tag to the component

Select the Free input link type from the list. Enter the merge tag supported by the selected target system.

Unsubscribe

Inserts a default merge tag to the added link

Select the Unsubscribe link type from the list. To change the default merge tag and activate the read-only fields, contact the administrator.

Once you add the link to the component, the unlink button becomes active. Use it to remove the added link.

You can check the correctness of your link in the Editor PREVIEW mode or in Viewer.

Free input link type

You can use the Free input link type to add specific merge tags (tokens) to your items. After distributing to the CRM system, the merge tag operates according to its configuration. For example, it's substituted with the relevant recipient data or layout component. Also, you can use the merge tag to link documents of various formats, including video files, to the resulting document.

Depending on the target system selected for the item publication, use only the merge tags supported by this target system.

You can't check the merge tag function immediately after the item publication. Test the added merge tag when the item is synced with the CRM system.

For example, to link a Veeva Vault PDF document to your item:

  1. Select a component on the email layout.

  2. Go to the Properties tab.

  3. Click Link in the TOOLS section.

The Edit link pop-up opens.

4. In the Link type field, select Free input.

5. Insert the {{$VaultDocID}} token into the Input value field and replace the VaultDocID part of the token with the actual document ID in Veeva Vault.

You can copy the document ID from its URL in Veeva Vault.

6. Click SAVE.

7. Publish your email to Veeva Vault as interactive.

8. Add the linked PDF document to the RelationshipsOther related documents section in Veeva Vault.

After syncing the item with Veeva CRM, click the added link. As a result, the associated PDF document opens in a new tab.

Internal links

You can add internal links to website components that redirect to anchors.

To add internal links:

  1. Select the component on the layout.

  2. Go to the Properties tab on the customization panel.

  3. Click —the Edit link pop-up appears.

  4. Select the Internal resource in the Edit link pop-up.

  5. In the Select anchor dropdown list, choose the earlier created anchor.
