Subject and teaser are short sentences that provide more context about the email. The subject is the headline shown in the inbox after the sender name. The teaser is an email content preview displayed after the subject. You can add several subjects and only one teaser in eWizard Editor so they appear in Veeva Vault interactive, Veeva Vault PDF, and SFMC metadata after your email publication.
Make sure your email template supports this feature. Please contact your administrator for details.
To add a subject and teaser to your email in Editor:
Click
ADD SUBJECT
on the quick access bar.Enter the subject and teaser text in the respective fields.
Hover over the link under the
SUBJECT LINE
field to check the subject and teaser recommendations. Follow the listed guidelines and ensure proper subject and teaser display across different devices and email clients.Upon clicking the
TEASER LINE
field, the system suggests the variant for your teaser—the first lines from your email.

You can preview the added subject and teaser:
in email clients when sending a test email.
in the item details after you publish the email to Veeva Vault interactive, Veeva Vault PDF or SFMC.
The teaser metadata is used in target systems in the following ways:
In Veeva Vault, the teaser line metadata is transferred to the system but isn't used after the email distribution to Veeva CRM.
In SFMC, the teaser metadata is used for further email distribution.
Select the Include subject and teaser lines
checkbox to show the subject and teaser in Veeva Vault PDF and in MLR-approved PDFs.
Subject with Veeva tokens
Your subject can include custom Veeva tokens that are substituted by appropriate values in Veeva Vault.
For example, a subject with a user name token:
Hi, {{userName}}
After the email is published to Veeva Vault interactive, the token is replaced with the user name.
Multiple subjects
You can add several subjects to the email in eWizard. As a result, you can select one of the subjects from the dropdown list. This feature allows email reviewers to choose the most appropriate subject during email distribution.
Contact your administrator to configure adding several subjects.
Teaser
You can add only one teaser to your email in eWizard Editor.
To add several subjects:
Click in the subject and teaser area.
In the
Manage subjects
pop-up that appears, enter your subject text.The first subject line can't be removed.
Click
+ ADD NEW
and enter another subject text.The maximum amount of subject lines is 9.
To remove a subject line, click .
The total number of characters in all subjects shouldn't exceed 1500.
Contact your administrator to raise the total character limit to 5000.
4. Click APPLY

As a result, the SUBJECT LINE
on the item layout becomes a dropdown list where you can select the required subject.
You can translate all subject lines in the TRANSLATE mode.
The publication flow of an email with several subjects and its resulting display depends on the target system.
Veeva Vault as PDF for approval
When publishing your email as new or an update of the existing PDF to Veeva Vault for approval, select the Include subject and teaser lines
checkbox on the PREPARATION
step. As a result, all subjects are displayed at the top of the PDF file.
Veeva Vault interactive
You can select the Publish with one subject line only
checkbox on the PREPARATION
step during publishing to Veeva Vault interactive.
If you select the Publish with one subject line only
checkbox, the Subject
field becomes a dropdown list on the DETAILS
step.
If you don't select the Publish with one subject line only
checkbox, the subject is displayed in the following format:
{{customText[My first subject|My second subject]}}
After the email is distributed from Veeva Vault to Veeva CRM, the subject is displayed as a dropdown list where you can choose one of the subjects.
When publishing multiple subjects with tokens, the {}
symbols are replaced with #
after the email is distributed to Veeva CRM.
For example:
{{customText[Hi, {{userName}}|My second subject]}}
is replaced by:
{{customText[Hi, ##userName##|My second subject]}}
