Comparator is a powerful tool within the eWizard quality assurance toolset designed to streamline email content review and validation. It allows you to compare emails or email fragments side-by-side, helping you quickly identify and analyze visual and structural differences to ensure optimal rendering across different email clients and devices.

With Comparator, you can:

Examine two versions of the same email or email fragment.

  • Compare different emails or email fragments from Library.

  • Visualize changes across any target devices and email clients you select for comparison.

Starting

You can launch Comparator either directly from Editor or from Library. Starting from Editor is recommended, as it ensures you're comparing the exact email version you're working with and eliminates potential confusion when you have several similar emails in your Library.

To begin comparing emails or email fragments from Editor, do the following:

  1. Click TEST.

  2. In the unfolded menu, select Compare.

To open Comparator from Library, unfold the item more options and select Test

Compare.

The Compare pop-up opens.

3. Select the item version under the VERSIONS tab or any other item under the LIBRARY tab to compare with the current one.

4. Click COMPARE.

The Target email clients and devices pop-up opens.

5. Set the acceptable minimum mismatch value for the compared items in the Minimum mismatch field.

If the difference is higher than the minimum mismatch value, you can find this value highlighted on the email card.

6. Select email clients and devices to test your item rendering.

7. Click CONTINUE.

Comparator starts in the RUNNING status, generating email cards for the selected devices and email clients. The cards appear one by one as they're created.

Having reached 100%, the Comparator status changes to COMPLETE.

View modes

Comparator offers two view modes to examine comparison results:

  • Threefold view–the default view that displays both emails or email fragments under comparison side by side, allowing you to scroll through and compare their content simultaneously.

  • Layout view that highlights the differences between the emails or email fragments under comparison overlapping their layouts.

To open the item in the threefold view, click the eye button. Viewer of the compared items features the following areas:

[1]: The top panel with the target device or system details.

[2]: The main area with three layouts:

  • the current email or email fragment on the left

  • the email or email fragment selected for comparison on the right

  • both emails or email fragments under comparison overlapped in the middle with their differences highlighted, which matches the layout view

The overlapped layout also displays all mismatches between the emails or email fragments.

[3]: The bottom bar with the controls for device selection and layout scaling. You can also find the mismatch value here and navigate between all the resulting email cards available.

To switch to the layout view, click on the top panel.

The layout view features the DETAILS panel with the position controls. You can change the position of the overlapped items under comparison with X-/Y-axis values.

To accentuate the offset between the content items under comparison, click .

To return to the threefold view, click on the top panel.
